Meals are served each Monday of the year at 5:30 pm for those who experience loneliness, economic, or social difficulty. This hunger program is carried out in cooperation with the Lancaster County Council of Churches. Churches from our area cook and serve the meal. Zion has it’s own teams who prepare and serve during the year.
Zion has it’s own clothing bank which is open the evening of Community Meals. Twice a year we have a community-wide clothing giveaway. Donations are greatly appreciated throughout the year.
Zion both supports the local Food Bank with donations and serves as a distribution center for periodic food distributions for those attending the Community Meal who indicated interest and need.
Zion Lutheran members plant, weed, and harvest a small garden of fresh vegetables each Sprint-Autumn that provides fresh produce for those who attend Community Meals.
Zion’s Angels is a group of Zion members who sponsor year-round events in support of the Relay for Life’s mission of raising awareness about cancer and providing funds for research to cure cancer. Zion’s Angels sponsor many events in the community and once a year there is a Zion Angels/Relay for Life Golf tournament. Twice a year, the Zion’s Angels go into high gear and produce chocolate products that are sold to the congregation for Christmas and Easter festivities. Other fundraisers are done annually that engage the congregation and our community.
Prior to the start of the school year, Zion sponsors a Backpack Give-Away for local school students who may be in need of school supplies and/or backpacks.
