“This precious gift (music) has been given to man alone that he might thereby remind himself that God has created man for the express purpose of praising and extolling God.  However, when man’s natural musical ability is whetted and polished to the extent that it becomes an art, then do we note with great surprise the great and perfect wisdom of God in music, which is, after all, His product and His gift; we marvel when we hear music in which one voice sings a simple melody, while three, four, or five other voices play and trip lustily around the voice that sings its simple melody and adorn this simple melody wonderfully with artistic musical effects, thus reminding us of a heavenly dance, where all meet in a spirit of friendliness, caress and embrace.” – Martin Luther

The Senior Choir
This choir rehearses every Thursday and sings most Sundays at the 10:30 am service from September through May and at many of the special worship services during Lent, Easter, and Christmas.  Our choir performs Christmas Cantatas, visits and performs for members at Luther Acres, and will participate in special county wide church events throughout the year.

The Youth Choir
Youths in grades 7 through 12 have a brief practice as part of the Sunday Church School time on Sunday mornings and sing approximately four times a year.

Children’s Choir
Music is part of the Sunday Church School program at Zion.  The children then provide special music for worship occasionally throughout the year.  Exposure to various instruments are introduced at this age.

Summer Special Music
Members and friends of the congregation provide special music during the summer months when the choirs are on vacation.  This music comes in many flavors: instrumentalists, quartets, duets, and soloists.

Children through adults serve as cantors, providing musical leadership for portions of the liturgy.  A Cantor may also be a Worship Assistant and provide leadership in the prayers of the church and the serving of communion.
