Our normal worship schedule runs from Labor Day to Memorial Day consisting of one traditional Christian service; a 10:30 AM service featuring our adult choir. Our summer schedule consists of a single 9:00 AM worship service. The Holy Eucharist is celebrated the first Sunday of every month and on the Festival Sundays of the liturgical year. A nursery for young children is provided each Sunday at the 10:30 AM service and at all summer worship.
Special Worship Opportunities
Members of our congregation are provided with many opportunities to participate in our worship services through; lectoring, assisting minister, greeters, and ushering. Utilizing our members gifts and talents to help support and enhance our worship is always a blessing.
Special services honoring graduates, youth in mission service, military, and anniversaries for ordination are warmly celebrated in our congregation.
Music Sunday is always the second Sunday in May. On this day choirs, congregation, instruments, and readings combine in praise and thanksgiving to God for all His gifts, and especially for the gift of music, with which we praise Him.
Special music Sundays fill our sanctuary with beautiful music a few Sundays a year with guest soloists, professional musicians, and special musical pieces performed by our own talented choir. Special music is provided every Sunday during our summer worship.
The Blessing of Pets is celebrated in the afternoon of the first or second Sunday of October.
Daytime Christmas Service with Holy Communion and Fellowship Meal
On the Thursday morning the week before Christmas, we invite our homebound /non-driving members, those who have difficulty going out in the evening hours, and those who may be traveling for the holidays to a special Christmas worship with Holy Communion followed by a fellowship meal.
Children’s Christmas Pageant
The Sunday before Christmas the Zion Youth perform the traditional story of Mary and Joseph’s journey to Bethlehem as the world awaits the coming of our new King. Christmas carols are sung by the congregation as our story is told.
Christmas Eve Worhip
On Christmas Eve, we hold an early evening, 5:00 PM candlelight service with Holy Communion. Music at this service is provided by Zion’s youth musicians and vocalists. A children’s sermon is shared at the early service. A tradional candlelight service with Holy Communion, featuring the Senior Choir and special music is offered at 10:00 PM.
To begin the Lenten season, and to help prepare our hearts and minds for the journey to the Cross and Resurrection, we offer sunrise and evening worships with the imposition of ashes and Holy Communion.
Midweek Lenten Meal with Study and Worship
Our mid week Lenten services begin at 5:30 PM with a soup supper provided by our Christian Education Committee. A Lenten Study is lead by our Pastor at 6:30 PM, followed by our weekday Lenten service at 7:00 PM.
Wednesday of Holy Week
A service of healing is offered at 7:00 PM.
A special service for the Homebound and others who desire or need a daytime worship experience. An evening Service of Word and Sacrament with the stripping of the altar is at 7:00PM.
A service commemorating the death of our Lord Jesus Christ is at 7:00PM.
Easter morning we celebrate the risen Christ at 10:30 AM. Our congregation gathers in our Fellowship Hall for breakfast before the service at 9:00 AM for time together during this joyous Sunday of celebration!
Worship is the Work of the People
Members are invited to volunteer to serve in one or more of the following ways as part of the congregational worship team: Acolyte; Torch, Cross and Bible Bearers; Altar Care/Altar Guide; Assisting Minister; Usher; Greeter. Sign-ups for volunteer positions and times of service are in the main building hallway.
