Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church of East Petersburg

Global Outreach

In addition to our local community efforts, we are pledged to assist in global efforts toward world relief.

Lutheran Church of Tanzania

Zion supports the Lower Susquehanna Synod in its companion synod relationship with Forest Lutheran Church in Mbeya, Tanzania.

This relationship includes not only financial support, but also prayer and communications.

Zion Quilters

A dedicated group of Zion members gather on the second and fourth Mondays of the month at 1:00 p.m. to assemble quilts.

The quilts are taken to Lutheran World Relief for distribution to refugees throughout the world and to those who have suffered from natural disasters. More than 50 quilts are made each year and are given to those in need.

ELCA Global Missions

Zion Lutheran joins with thousands of ELCA congregations in supporting mission work throughout our world, in more than 60 countries.

Our mission work supports the national ministries of our church through the Lutheran World Federation—the international expression of the worldwide Lutheran community.

World Hunger

Zion Lutheran provides the opportunity for its members to give to the world Hunger Appeal of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, to the Lutheran World Relief programs of Humanitarian Aid and Development projects and to the Lutheran Disaster Relief.

Contributions to ELCA World Hunger make it possible for the ELCA to support sustainable solutions that are designed to alleviate causes of hunger and poverty.

Our global efforts support the universal human right to food. The cessation of worldwide hunger involves more than food, its distribution and those who are in need. Addressing the need for clean water, education, health care and income equality are all long-term, sustainable elements of change that we seek to accomplish.
